# AnimalTrakker® Database Backup Recommended Practices
Whether you just use [[AnimalTrakker® Farm Mobile Overview|AnimalTrakker® Farm Mobile]] to track a small flock or run an entire registry with [[AnimalTrakker® Registry Desktop Overview|Registry Web]], we recommend that you make regular [[AnimalTrakker® Database Overview|database]] backups to prevent data loss. Best practice is to make regular database backups [[Backing Up Your Database on a Tablet|on your tablet]] whenever you have a break to do so.
We also recommend copying your database backups to an off-device location at the end of each working day. If you use Farm Mobile and [[AnimalTrakker® Farm Desktop Overview|Farm Desktop]], best practice is to copy the database backup from your tablet [[Sending AnimalTrakker® Data#Sending AnimalTrakker® Data to Desktop|to your computer]] at the end of each day, or vice versa. Otherwise, you can save the backup file to a thumb drive, external hard drive, or cloud storage.
If you purchased a [[Suggested AnimalTrakker® Hardware#Preloaded RTU AnimalTrakker® System $500 + Shipping|preloaded AnimalTrakker® system]] from us, your tablet has already been set up with a Google Drive where you can [[Saving Your AnimalTrakker® Database on Google Drive|store copies of your database]] for safe keeping. We recommend that you copy your database(s) there regularly just in case anything should happen to your main database.
